UNIT 2: Introduction to Programming
In this unit, students will develop an understanding of a computer programmer’s role in making our technology work as we expect it to. After being introduced to computer code, students will practice “programming” each other around the classroom in order to learn how to break down large tasks into small instructions. Students will then be introduced to Scratch Jr., a block-based programming tool that allows young students to create and program their own animations and games. Using the activities in the unit, students will learn the basic functions of the Scratch Jr. app and then apply that knowledge to creating their own characters, stories, personal projects, and games.
